Julia has always been passionate about science, and before changing careers to teaching worked as a clinical research coordinator. She is passionate about equipping students with the skills to be scientifically literate and use critical thinking to evaluate the world around them, from their own communities to the media they consume.
Being able to actually see the labs scientists are working in, handling the materials and/or data they work with has really reignited my passion for research!
Seeing what scientists are doing helps me to improve my lessons and better guide my students as they make choices about their future.
Fun fact: I love travel and on a trip to Costa Rica last summer I got to see a really rare color mutation in Howler Monkeys!
