I am an experienced educator with a strong background in biology, having taught AP Biology at Dougherty Valley High School since 2012. With a passion for both teaching and research, I have contributed to the field through my previous role as a College Biology Lecturer and Research Associate at Dynavax Technologies. In addition to my work in the classroom, I have been an AP Biology Exam reader and writer for CollegeBoard since 2016.
Constellations has made me feel like a researcher by encouraging deep reflection on teaching practices, analyzing classroom data, and collaborating on evidence-based strategies to enhance student learning, much like in scientific research. It fosters a mindset of inquiry and continuous improvement that parallels the research process.
Participating in science alongside scientists as a teacher enhances subject expertise, provides access to cutting-edge research and methodologies, and inspires innovative teaching strategies, empowering educators to enrich students’ learning experiences.
Fun fact: I have a pet cockatiel and I talk about him to my students.
