I knew I wanted to be a teacher by the time I was a second grader, but my love of science emerged in middle school. My college pathway was full of a variety of science classes but since I knew I was going to be a teacher, I saw myself as a teacher more than a scientist. I love being a teacher and can’t imagine doing anything else!
It feels so good to dig into emerging science and try things that aren’t in textbooks or part of cookbook labs.
Working with scientists gives me the opportunity to learn what’s new in science, how I can participate in citizen science, and reminds me that I’m as capable as the science researchers.
Fun fact: I once recieved teaching advice from Neil deGrasse Tyson.
